Melissa & Doug’s Wooden Rainbow Stacker is more than just a simple stacking toy. It helps teach your child color and size recognition, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, sequencing skills and independent play skills.

Melissa and Doug’s Rainbow Stacker also has the following extension activities for even more fun and educational play with your child.

  • Ask your child to stack the rings on the rod, including the ball on top. Identify the color of each ring and ball on top as they are stacked. Ask your child to repeat each color name after you. Repeat the activity until the child is able to identify each color.
  • Ask your child to stack the rings on the rod, including the ball on top. Count each ring and ball on top as they are stacked. Ask your child to repeat each number after you. Repeat the activity until your child has mastered counting to eight.
  • Ask your child to stack the rings and the red ball without using the rod.
  • Stack the rings on the rod. Ask the child to touch the largest ring and the smallest ring.
  • Once your child has mastered stacking the rings from the largest to smalles, ask him/her to reverse the stacking color.
  • Melissa & Doug’s Rainbow Stacker, a classic childhood toy with fun activities that should be a part of every child’s toy chest!
